Work, Noise and People: A Home for Every Chat

Work, Noise and People: A Home for Every Chat

Before you install or change anything, it helps to see the whole plan on one screen.

It is three lanes, with one rule each.

Once these three rules click, sorting any chat takes about two seconds.

Which chats belong in WhatsApp Business?

The rule: if it is about earning, it lives here.

Clients, vendors, leads, invoices, anyone you do business with.

Keeping work in its own app means work stops turning up in the middle of a family evening.

You also get proper tools that regular WhatsApp does not have โ€” labels, catalogues, away messages.

We will set those up later in the series.

What goes in personal WhatsApp?

The rule: if it does not need the real you, it goes here.

Delivery OTPs, online shopping, the one-time plumber, marketplace deals, random groups.

This becomes the number you hand out freely, without a second thought.

That is the point of it.

Because it collects the noise, your real life stays out of the spam lists.

Think of it as the doormat of your digital home.

Why put my close people on Signal?

The rule: if you would hate to lose them, they belong here.

Family, close friends, the groups that actually matter.

Signal is private by default, carries no ads, and collects barely any data about you.

It is also quiet, because nobody is forwarding you good morning images at six in the morning.

That is what makes it the calm lane.

Moving your close people there is easy, and those are the conversations you would most want protected.

How do I decide where a chat goes?

For any chat, ask one question: who is this for?

If the answer is a customer, it is Business.

If the answer is someone you love, it is Signal.

If the answer is nobody in particular, it is everyday WhatsApp.

Work, noise, people โ€” each with its own home.

That is the entire system, and everything from here is just setup.

You do not have to move your whole life in one evening either.

Do the lanes first and shift chats across as they come up.

In the next post we start building, beginning with WhatsApp Business.

Things to Remember

  • Send anything about earning to WhatsApp Business.
  • Let personal WhatsApp absorb OTPs, shops and one-time contacts.
  • Keep family and close friends on Signal, away from the noise.
  • Ask "who is this for?" whenever a chat feels hard to place.
  • Build the three lanes first, then move chats gradually.
