Hi, I’m Shiraz. I run Technesium in Mumbai.
My day job is putting technology into people’s homes and offices — Wi-Fi that reaches the far bedroom, cameras, phone systems, the wiring behind all of it.
Which means I spend a lot of my week answering the same questions. Is this message from my bank? Why has my phone slowed down? Where did my photos go? Is this app listening to me?
This blog is where I write those answers down properly, so I can send a link instead of explaining it again.
What youโll find here
Short pieces, in plain English, about the things that actually bother people: your phone, your privacy, your money and the scams doing the rounds right now.
No jargon. Nothing assumed. If a step needs a menu path, I give you the menu path.
A new article every morning at 11:30.
How I write it
I only write about things I have done myself or set up for someone. Where I am not certain, I say so rather than guessing.
I don’t take payment to recommend products, and there are no affiliate links on this site. If that ever changes, it will say so on the article.
There are no ads, no tracking scripts and no newsletter sign-up harvesting your address. The site counts page views and nothing else — no cookies, no profile of you.
If something here is wrong, I would genuinely like to know. Tell me and I’ll fix it.
Elsewhere
Most of these articles start life as a post on Instagram, @shirazkotwall — the short version first, the full explanation here.
@technesium is the company account, for the work we do in people’s homes and offices. technesium.com is where that lives.
