How do I start a voice chat?
Open Claude and tap the voice button, shown as a mic or a waveform.
Speak naturally and ask your question out loud.
Claude replies out loud, and you keep chatting hands-free.
Tap to pause or end it whenever you are done.
No keyboard involved at any point.
When is talking better than typing?
Cooking, with a quick "what can I make with paneer and peas?".
Driving or commuting, asking for today's headline explained simply.
Walking, when you want to think out loud and plan your day.
Tired eyes, when you would rather rest them and just listen.
Those are exactly the moments a keyboard lets you down.
There is also the plain fact that we speak faster than we type.
A question you would never type out is easy to just say.
That alone changes how often you ask anything.
What is the catch?
One honest heads-up, and it matters here in India.
Voice mode currently works in English only.
More languages are on the way.
For now it is English in, English out.
Worth knowing before you try it in Hindi or Marathi.
Typing still handles those languages, so switch back to the keyboard.
Is it worth trying if I have never used voice on my phone?
Give it a go the next time your hands are full.
Start with something small, like a recipe idea or a news story.
Something you would genuinely like an answer to.
You do not have to speak carefully or in any special way.
Just talk as you normally would.
There is no wrong way to say it.
Talking to your phone and getting a useful answer still feels like magic.
