Which devices does it work on?
Full scanning needs a LiDAR sensor. That means iPhone 12 Pro and later Pro or Pro Max models, and iPad Pro models from 2020 onwards. On those devices you walk the room and the app measures the walls, doors and windows directly.
Devices without LiDAR still work, using a different method: you stand in each corner of the room and mark it, and the app builds the plan from those points. It is less precise than a LiDAR sweep, and the app says so on the drawing rather than pretending otherwise.
You can also type a room's width and length by hand if you have measured it yourself.
How do I get an accurate scan?
Accuracy is the entire point of the app, and the scan is where it is won or lost.
- Turn the lights on. The scanner needs at least dim living-room brightness.
- Open every door along your route before you start, not during the scan.
- Cover or avoid large mirrors and glass partitions — they create phantom walls.
- Move shoes, boxes and cables away from the wall-floor line. That line is what gets measured.
- Walk at about half your normal pace. A 4 m wall should take roughly eight seconds.
- Scan one room at a time, and scan all the rooms of a building in one continuous session — that is what lets the app place rooms correctly relative to each other.
If the white outlines drift away from the real walls, stop moving and slowly look back at an area you have already scanned. The map re-aligns itself.
What do the dashed lines mean?
A solid line is measured. A dashed line is estimated, hand-added or typed in — treat it as approximate.
The app will never draw an estimate as though it were a measurement. If something could not be measured properly, the drawing says so, both in the line style and in the notes on the sheet.
The scan missed part of a room
Scan just the part that was missed and choose Add this to the existing plan on the review screen. The app lines the new sweep up with what you already have and fills in the gaps, without moving any wall it already measured.

A room is in the wrong place on the drawing
Open the site and choose Fix a room's position, then drag the room where it belongs. Room dimensions never change when you do this — only the position — and the sheet records that positions were adjusted by hand.
Can I verify a measurement with a tape?
Yes, and you should. Tap a wall on the plan, measure it with a tape, and enter what you measured. That wall is then treated as verified and drawn at your figure, and the sheet notes how many walls were tape-verified.
Where are my drawings stored?
On your device, and in your own private iCloud container if you are signed in to iCloud. Technesium runs no servers and never receives your data. See the privacy policy.
Reporting a problem
Email [email protected] with your device model, iOS version, and what you were doing. If a drawing came out wrong, say what the real dimension was and what the app printed — that is the most useful thing you can send.
