Thankfully there are a few solutions available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stop Media Auto-Download<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Go to WhatsApp Settings -&gt; Storage &amp; Data<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Select the type of media (Photos, Audio, Video or Documents).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized is-style-default\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/technesium.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/IMG_4293-1024x890.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-773\" width=\"512\" height=\"445\" srcset=\"https:\/\/technesium.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/IMG_4293-1024x890.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/technesium.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/IMG_4293-300x261.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/technesium.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/IMG_4293-768x668.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/technesium.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/IMG_4293.jpeg 1125w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There you will find the option to turn off auto-download of photos, audio, videos &amp; documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized is-style-default\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/technesium.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/IMG_4488-1-1024x441.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-779\" width=\"512\" height=\"221\" srcset=\"https:\/\/technesium.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/IMG_4488-1-1024x441.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/technesium.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/IMG_4488-1-300x129.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/technesium.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/IMG_4488-1-768x331.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/technesium.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/IMG_4488-1.jpeg 1125w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>By selecting \u201cNever\u201d, that type of media will not download automatically.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This setting applies to all chats and groups. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This method is very effective. You can simply ignore all media and only tap and open the media you want to see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Manage Storage (NEW OPTIONS!)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WhatsApp has added fantastic new options to clean up media (pictures, audio, video &amp; documents).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These settings can be found under WhatsApp Settings -&gt; Storage &amp; Data -&gt; Manage Storage<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/technesium.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/CleanWhatsappChats.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-772\" width=\"473\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/technesium.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/CleanWhatsappChats.jpeg 473w, https:\/\/technesium.blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/CleanWhatsappChats-139x300.jpeg 139w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 473px) 100vw, 473px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Under Manage Storage, you will find an option called \u201cReview &amp; Delete Items\u201d. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is broken up into two groups:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Media Larger than 5MB<\/li><li>Media Forwarded Many Times<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Simply go into these options and select the media you want to delete.
