All of us dread the trip to the supermarket to pick up stuff. Some of us send our staff to the closest general store and pick up things like toilet rolls, kitchen rolls, shampoos, soap etc. This means we have to keep track of the stocks available and then send for items as they are getting over. I found this process extremely painful.

I wanted to figure out how to automate this mundane, time consuming but necessary process.

I’ve tried various online portals like Big Basket, Nature’s Basket, Grofers, D-Mart etc. All of them require us to manually add products and then check-out and pay.

After trying all these, I happened to stumble upon is the “Subscribe & Save” option while shopping.

My most important issue, complete automation, was sorted out. I could just subscribe to the items I needed, and they would come every month!

Features of Subscribe & Save

Visit Amazon and search for any item that you would like to subscribe to. For Example Shampoo.

Once you see the results, select the subscribe and save box (on the left column) to view only those items which can be subscribed to.

After selecting the item, select the subscribe and save option as shown below. You will notice the immediate discount. After this choose the frequency of the delivery. Amazon automatically shows you what it thinks.

Click Subscribe now.

You will then be asked to select a shipping address.

After selecting the shipping address, you will be asked to choose a payment method. Select Amazon Pay to get an additional 5% discount!

You will be asked one more time to confirm the subscription.

You’re done! You’ve just automated delivery of your first product.

The whole point of this exercise was to make everything completely automatic hence paying with your credit card which requires an OTP for every transaction is not possible.

I personally load money (depending on my monthly expenditure) into Amazon Pay.

Even if you forget to load money into Amazon Pay don’t worry, your order is automatically converted to cash on delivery. So you never miss a delivery.

How do I pay for this?
