Happy happy Diwali everyone!

So it’s that time of the year again! Diwali is here and most of us have already cleaned our houses, thrown out stuff that was not required and bought a whole lot of new stuff.

Just like cleaning our houses, even our tech devices require a clean!

Why do I need to clean my tech devices?

Let’s understand why with a simple example. Say you have a desk in the office which has a drawer. We use that drawer daily by either adding items or removing items. As this drawer gets full we find it more and more difficult to locate the item we want quickly. Then finally we get fed up and arrange the whole drawer. Sound familiar?

As you use your tech devices such as your laptops, mobiles and tablets, they get more and more full of programs & apps that you’ve added. This tends to fill up the device storage and in turn makes everything go slower.

Time for a clean-up!

Remove Apps/Programs

I’m sure there will be several apps or programs on your devices which you haven’t used in a while. We’ve all downloaded apps or programs we thought were extremely cool at the time but haven’t used them since!

WhatsApp Photos & Videos

Everyday we receive many pictures and videos on WhatsApp. These could be simple good morning messages, family pictures, funny videos, links to websites, etc. Without even realising our WhatsApp becomes huge!

Start going through chats and deleting the photos and videos. If you would like to save some photos and videos permanently then you can save them to your phone (Gallery App, Photos App or Google Photos App).

WhatsApp is automatically backed up periodically. If the size of WhatsApp keeps increasing unchecked, backing up could take extremely long. The backup could also fail and hence it’s important to check on the backup status every once in a while.

CCleaner

CCleaner is an App/Program which is available for PC, Mac & Android mobiles. It’s extremely simple to use and cleans up all the unnecessary/unwanted files.

Android phone users can click below to get the App.

"Get

If you are a PC user then you can click here.

If you are a Mac user then you can click here.

Apple believes that iOS is the world’s most advanced operating system and doesn’t require any sort of clean-up. In my opinion, clean-up apps don’t make much of a difference on iOS. The only way to actually clean-up an iPhone/iPad is to back everything up (either on iCloud or on a computer) and then factory reset it.

What should I do now?

Happy Diwali Cleaning!
