There are several types of ads which automatically show up when we are browsing the internet. Some appear as banners, others appear in the middle of the content we are reading, and some even appear as pop-ups.

Due to these ads, our attention is diverted away from the content we are reading which can be very annoying.

Also, we inadvertently download unnecessary images and videos that count towards our data limit.

Why should I care about a few ads?

The issue in this case is not just about us getting annoyed seeing ads or our data limits; ads can also be dangerous. If you visit an unfamiliar or unknown site and click on an ad by mistake, malicious software could get installed automatically. This would lead to all the data on your device or even the entire device being compromised.

What can I do to block these ads?

If you are using a PC or a MAC with Google Chrome or Safari then all you need to do is install an add-on (extension) to your browser. It automatically prevents ads from loading and hence gives you a clean browsing experience.

I recommend installing AdBlock Plus.
